St Bart’s Church Cooks

Please note: the under-16s in the photo did not serve the meal - they helped behind the scenes and dropped the food on the day

Each Saturday night an amazing team of cooks donate their time, energy, money and culinary skills to prepare a 3 course meal for the hungry and lonely of our neighbourhoods

The cooks willingly fundraise to cover all the food costs — each night costs between $600-$800, feeding 100 dinner guests

We have incredible cooks from 26 groups, ranging from churches, schools, community groups and workplaces

The roster is set over the year — if you would like to find out more about joining the 2024/25 roster with a team of cooks, please email hello@marymagsdinners.org

We are looking for new cooks to join the 2024/25 roster

What’s involved for the cooks?

100 serves of soup [1-2 options]
120 serves of a main meal [1-2 options]
100 serves of dessert [1-2 options]

7 loaves of sliced bread [3 white & 4 wholemeal, no multigrain]
1kg of butter

5L of Sugar Free Cordial
5L of Long Life Milk

We supply more in depth catering information once cooks have signed up

The majority of the food is prepared during the week externally, on the rostered Saturday, 7-10 cooks in the kitchen are heating, chopping, preparing and serving food from 4.30pm - 7.30pm

Please note: The minimum age to volunteer at Mary Mags Dinners on the night is strictly age 16

Each cooks team has to have a minimum of 4 adult cooks, therefore allowing 3-6 cooks aged 16-17
